Outstanding Viennese Empire desk,
Circa 1805/10. Made in mahogany, with filigree marquetry ornament in brass, pearwood and stained maple, as well as with gilt bronze applications and mirrored panels. The desk is of a cuboid form, set on bronze paw feet, with 2 doors and 2 external drawers, a central section with writing drawer and a two-door cabinet in yew and ash, these fitted with various refined and sophisticated secret compartments. 154 x 85.5 x 47 cm. In cared-for restored condition, with small parts missing or replaced. (PZ)
