Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 578 x 352 cm, late 19th century, the floral elements in geometric execution give Heriz carpets a unique charm that makes them especially sought-after among carpet collectors; the present Serapi carpet, with its elongated, shield-like medallion and cartouche-like central field, is a very beautiful example of its kind; consistently low pile, both finishes and fringes have been filled in.
