A Limoges enamelled plaquette depicting the month of May - Master I. C. (Jean de Court attributed to),
copper, enamel, grisaille painting, gilt painting in part, obverse with allegorical depiction of the month of May, reverse with two masks and gilt floral painting, inscribed ‘I. C’, Dm. 13 cm, framed, 2nd half of the 16th cent., (Lu)
Probably a fragment of what was originally a plate depicting the months of the year from a series executed by Master IC, who today is identified as Jean de Court.
A comparable plate depicting the month of May is held in the collection of the Louvre in Paris (obverse Inventarnummer R 317 and reverse R 303).
