Perspective

After studying at the Glassmaking Secondary School in Nový Bor, he studied in the studio of prof. Kaplický at the AAAD in Prague, where he graduated in 1957. Between the years 1965–1979, he led the studio he founded, focusing on glass in architecture at the AFAAD in Bratislava. To a certain extent, this focus is characteristic of his artistic intent. At the end of the 1960s, he got the idea of getting rid of all historicisms, which entailed finding and using optical glass, which he started to use in his work. Characteristic for Cigler is finding basic shapes for his objects, their character and relationship to the surrounding world, using minimal artistic means. The author enjoys using the optical properties of the lens, through which he observes his surroundings.
The work on offer, Perspective, combines a mirrored panel with a perpendicularly positioned lens, through which we can see streaks running through the perspective created on the mirror in the axis of the lens.
