The genre painter Heinrich (Joseph Heinrich Ludwig) Marr chose Munich as his place of residence from 1825 onwards, after completing his artistic training in Hamburg and at the Academy in Copenhagen. He focused mainly on scenes from Upper Bavarian, Tyrolean and Italian folk life.
