An Elegant Parlour Desk, - Mobili e Antiquariato

in Louis XVI style, stamped E. ZWIENER (1848–1895), late 19th century, hardwood frame with sheet brass fluting on spinning top feet, the table top with lozenge pattern rosewood veneer with polished finish and gilt bronze edging, frieze with painted floral decoration of a later date, large drawer with compartments, c. 76 x 120 x 72 cm, in restored condition. E. ZWIENER - a German-born cabinet-maker who settled in Paris between 1880 and 1895 and mastered the art of carpentry at the highest level. He was awarded a gold medal at the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris. He created the famous "bureau du Roi" in Louis XV style for Herrenchiemsee Palace. .
