A large bowl “La Nature”, Emile Gallé, Nancy, c. 1900
The bowl was exhibited at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900 as part of a display case entitled “Repos dans la solitude” with glass works Gallé. “La Nature” was flanked by a related counterpart with the inscription “La Grande Communion de la Nature”. clear glass with semiopaque overlay in light green with partial periwinkle overlay, with applications and oxide inclusions; marquetry in green and semiopaque white; partially iridescent applications; marquetry decoration, cut landscape with tree silhouette and horizon; the side with engraved signature Gallé; height 14.2 cm, diameter 23 cm.
