Provenance:

Private Collection Berlin - acquired from the above

Exhibition:
Zurich, de Pury & Luxembourg, Terence Koh - Dirty Blind God, 12 April - 17 May 2008

Terence Koh spent every night in a closed, darkened room for a week – a room in which the Janus sculpture „GOD“ was later exhibited. In complete darkness and in a trance, which he achieved through intense meditation and reflection, he painted directly on the black plastic-lined ceilings and walls.

The use of a wide range of materials is characteristic of Koh, from oil and coloured pencils in various shades of black to the physical liquids and alcohol which mark this distinctive group of works.

Terence Koh was able to devote himself to the surfaces of this space unabashedly. There were no limits to his creativity and impulses and it is this generosity and freedom that allows the paintings to stand out. The reference to last year‘s exhibition „GOD“ and the exploration of the theme of spirituality is also clearly visible, and so this group of works also concludes a discourse begun almost a year ago.
