Turhan Shultavi was the son of a Turkish military attaché at the embassy in Vienna and a Czech Jewish woman. He emigrated to the USA with his mother in 1940. He was discovered by Warner Brothers in 1941 and went on to work with many Hollywood stars. He returned to Vienna in 1953, ran several cinemas and devoted himself to fashion photography.
