A janus-headed ancestor or guardian figure from Flores, from the Lesser Sunda Islands. Made of light-coloured stone, with two faces on top. Probably placed as a guardian figure in front of a village (probably an “ancestral couple”, female-male, back to back). Stone figures from Flores are very rare! 19th century or earlier. Height: 66 cm. (ME)
