A pair of typical Libyan robe fibulae, ‘khilal’, in the basic shape of a crescent. With long pin closures. All made of good silver. The fibula plates are cast, embossed and engraved. Decorations: each with a central medallion with plants, leafy tendrils, then each with two crescents with stars, on the outside each with two fish as good luck symbols. On the thickened ends and on the backsides of both pieces are the punched marks of the silversmith and the City of Tripoli (‘HB’ and others). First third of the 20th century; H: 16 cm, W: 17 cm. Weight: 360 g. (ME)
