A Yemeni ‘jambiya’ curved dagger, which every traditional, adult Yemeni displays vertically on the front of his belt. With lightweight curved iron blade and medial ridge. The hilt and the sheath, significantly curved below, are elaborately cloaked in good silver: embossed, engraved, with geometrical and floral patterns, rhombs, spheres, decorative bands and silver wire. First half of the 20th century; L: 28 cm. (ME)
