Dr. Klaus Ertz dates this picture to the 1660s.
The present picture shows an amalgamation of flowers which bloomed at different times of the years brought together in a single composition. Notable, for example, is the Semper Augustus tulip, which sold for extraordinary prices before the craze of ‘tulipmania’ crashed in 1637.
