Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 183 x 147 cm, second half of the 19th century, rare silk medallion carpet with floral spirals, terminating with motifs in butterfly shape, finely knotted with c. 700,000 kts/sqm and cotton wefts typical of this region; a few repairs and traces of usage; according to E. Herrmann, pieces such as the present one were commissioned from clients in Tabriz and produced as domestic handicrafts.
