Philipp Daniel Lippert, inventor, artist (draughtsman) and collector, was a celebrated personality in his time. He published his collection of molds after antiques gems in 1755/56, entitled Dactyliotheca Universalis. Lippert was painted by Anton Graff and his workshop several times. One of the best versions is in the art collection of the University Leipzig (Freundschaftsgalerie des Verlegers Philipp Erasmus Reich).
