and thence by descent to the present owner

Lionelli is a little-known Italian still life painter, whose first name at present remains unknown. He was active in Naples between the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth. He is known only from the signature on a painting of still life conserved with its pendant at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes (inv. no. 89, 90).
