The women of the Ndebele people of southern Africa are renowned for their murals - clear abstract designs in bright colours, Every four years it is traditional for them to replaster the outside walls of their homes and paint bold geometric patterns on them, similar in style to what we find in the Ndebele beadwork. The first large exhibition was in 1989 at the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris shown as part of the exhibition "Les Magiciens de la Terre".
