After studying at the Glassmaking Secondary School in Železný Brod, Aleš Vašíček continued to study under prof. Libenský at the VŠUP in Prague, graduating in 1972. Together with his peers Oldřich Plíva, Yan Zoritchak and Marian Karel, he represented new cut “prismatic” sculptures. At the end of the 1980s, the author began to work with the fused sculpture technique, for which he won the significant Grand Prix award in Kanazawa in Japan. His objects are based on geometric shapes, circles and squares are characteristic for him. The author uses the translucence of the glass and color nuances in the matter of the glass used.
