A terrine with cover surmounted by a crown, known as the ‘Drüselkästchen’ produced for Maria Josepha of Austria, wife of August III with the ‘Electoral-Saxon coat-of-arms’,
porcelain, cover and body with fluting, fine, wide gilt rims, pierced latticework and chain décor, wide bands with exquisitely painted gilt leaf tendrils, cover with surmounting crown on a cushion with coat-of-arms cartouches to obverse and reverse, both held by 2 cupids, in small and large cartouches polychrome landscapes and vedute with elegant people, narrow panels with purple-painted lake views, inside of cover with polychrome indianische flowers and leafy stems in relief, body gilded to interior, handles in the form sculptural busts of women with feather adornments, obverse and reverse each with 2 cupids, holding white fabric festoons and floral garlands in their hands, stepped gilt base with gilt-accented rocailles and small volute feet, height 19 cm, length 25 cm, some restoration, Meissen, underglaze blue sword mark, 1st half of 19th cent., model no. B 136, former no. 148, design by J. J. Kändler 1738 (Ru)
