Josef Hoffmann, A brooch in its original case,
designed c. 1922, manufactured by the Wiener Werkstätte, 18-kt yellow gold, three silver mounted diamonds cut in the old style, the silver parts with openwork decoration, leather case with gold embossed WW monogram, three-line Wiener Werkstätte word mark and (incorrect) model no. S 2786, brooch: 4 x 2 cm, (B).
This brooch is a variant of model no. G 2290 (three instead of two diamonds) that was custom made for Mäda Primavesi. The design is preserved at the WW Archives at the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts (ÖMAK), Vienna, under inv. no. WWE 19-6. Provenance: Primavesi family.
