"Die Erde" - An elemental vase,
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, of pitcher form, the body with wide gilt edging, the handle with ears of corn wound with a light purple band, surmounted by a boy with flower and basket of flowers, the neck and foot with moulded oak leaves, with a polychrome painted scatter of flowers on white ground, the facing side of the baluster with a seated figure of Luna, the goddess of the moon with crescent moon in her hair, as Diana, goddess of the hunt with her bow in the right hand, the quiver on her back, facing her from between oaks is Pan playing the syrinx, in the middle distance a mountain temple in an expansive hill- and forest landscape, moulded with hunting scenes, 2 hounds facing a deer at bay, 1 hound pursuing a boar, 2 hounds and a stag, a fox peering from its den, 2 hounds attacking a boar, 1 hound with a bear by a tree, the base with a boy turning the earth with his spade, reverse side with a lake landscape with heavily forested mountains, height: 67 cm, minor restorations; Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords 2nd half 19th cent., model no. 309, model by Johann Joachim Kändler 1741, Serie der 4 Elemente, a very rare model of "Erde" (Ru)

“Das Feuer” - An elemental vase,
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, of pitcher form, the body with wide gilt edging, the handle with a winged fire dragon, a small genius with dragon wings and thunderbolts in the left hand, the neck and base with acanthus leaves heightened with red and gilt, red painted scatter of flowers and yellow black salamander on a white ground, the facing side with a baluster depicting Vulcanus with bellows in the right hand, his hammer by his side, facing a female torch bearer, in the middle distance a moulded burning forest and mountains, dead stag, fleeing deer, hare, bear, stag, goat, and wolf, a central oak tree, the base with a youth with dragon wings, a torch in the right hand and thunderbolts in the left hand, in the background an expansive volcanic landscape with erupting volcano and rocks in the foreground, height: 67, restorations; Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords, 2nd half 19th cent., model no. 310, former no. 76, model by Johann Joachim Kändler 1741, who created the "Serie der 4 Elemente" (Ru)

“Das Wasser”- An elemental vase,
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, of pitcher form, the body with wide gilt edging, the handle decorated with reeds wound with a light purple ribbon, a genius with wings and fluttering cloth reclining in a large shell, water lilies, moulded with shells heightened with gilt and light purple, decorated with polychrome painted dragonflies, insects and water beetles on a white ground, the facing side baluster depicting Neptune in a shell with reins held in the left hand and 4 hippocampi, facing a mermaid, central 4 sailing ships and a tortoise, the base with 3 dolphins spouting water, verso with light blue and turquoise waves, height: 64 cm, restorations; Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords 2nd half 19th cent., model no. 320, former no. 121, painter no. 49, model by Johann Joachim Kändler 1741, who created the "Serie der 4 Elemente" (Ru)

“Die Luft” - An elemental vase,
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, of pitcher form, the body with wide gilt edging, the handle formed by royal blue cloth, supported by clouds, a genius clad in yellow cloth with red ribbon playing the bag pipes, below a laughing cupid holding one of the pipes, the cloth with a large angel blowing, the spout and base moulded with polychrome plumes, the facing side with a cherub atop a cloud, the neck decorated with polychrome painted insects and butterflies, Juno with crown, sceptre and peacock on a band of clouds, the baluster with flying storks, wild ducks, and eagles, the base with cupid holding a dove in the right hand, height: 66 cm, restorations , all four items: Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords 2nd half 19th cent., model no. 327, model by Johan Joachim Kändler 1741, who created the "Serie der 4 Elemente" (Ru)
