China, c. 80 x 60 cm (incl. frame), 17th century, if capes and fragments of garments are easy to come by, valuable collars are rare; the present piece is a museum-quality brocade on Imperial yellow ground with a round opening for the head, decorated with all-round peonies, leafy tendrils and large “shou” motifs; used, with a stitched tear, in good colour condition, mounted on burlap fabric and with a wooden frame.
