A depiction of the ancient figure of the messenger of the gods and the guide of the tourists at the moment of rest before he sets on the road again. Of the typical attributes (caduceus, a winged helmet, a cloak), he has only winged shoes. A copy is based on an ancient original found in 1758 in Papyrus Villa in Herculaneum by the Greek sculptor Lysippos (4th century BC). Currently the original is in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale de Naples, inv. no. 5625
