blond head hair, mounted in a circle on a statement of authenticity, small octavo, together with further confirmation hidden under the mount, quarto.

From the property of Goethe‘s private secretary Friedrich Theodor David Kräuter (1790 - 1856). Certificate: "Die inliegenden Haare sind Herrn Schiller's and gehörten zum Nachlaß des verstorbenen Bibliothekars Raths Dr. Theodor Kräuter hier, des ehemaligen Privatsekretärs Goethe's. Dies bezeugt der Neffe Kräuters. Rechtsanwalt Dr. Robert Keil, Weimar 20. April 1867"(This hair is that of Mr Schiller and belongs to the estate of the late….Kräuter….), 1 page, letter head, red lacquer seal, small octavo. Further confirmation: "Die Haarlocke von Schiller habe ich heute Herrn T. B. Bryan käuflich überlassen, and bezeuge hiermit, daß sie echt ist. Weimar den 23. Januar 1868. Eduard Lobe, Custos des Schillerhauses"(I have today sold the lock of hair of Schiller….and hereby confirm that it is genuine…), 1 page, paper somewhat browned, quarto-duodecimo. Attached: English translation of both confirmations.
