Lot No. 33

Vlčková Eva (Turnov 1966)

Shell
black glass, opaque, fused in a mould, cut, polished in acid, signed and dated Eva Vlčková 2015, 24 x 30 x 18 cm (Zí)

The work is from the author’s studio.

After graduating from the Glassmaking Secondary School in Železný Brod, Eva Vlčková studied under prof. Vladimír Kopecký at the AAAD in Prague. The author works with the technique of fused sculpture. In her work, there is an apparent effort toward an abstraction of shape that is bordering on minimalism. The works are remarkable for their play of light that is due to the thickness of the glass used.
The work on offer, Shell, is from her recent series of seemingly simple ovoids that are very cleverly and also very sensitively shaped.
