Johann Christian von Mannlich Schüler seines Vaters Conrad, dann von P. Verschaffelt in Mannheim und von C. van Loo, Boucher und Natoire in Paris und Rome. Seit 1771 war er in Zweibrücken als erster Hofmaler tätig. Ab 1799 war er in Munich Hofmaler Maximilians und Generaldirektor aller Gemäldegalerien. Mannlich beginnt als Rokokokünstler, er wird jedoch in Italy durch das Studium der Werke Raffaels und Mengs Klassizist.“ (Kinglet...
